Our Story
After many years of researching sunscreens and their negative effects on our health, we decided to test and develop an all-natural, all-organic, reef-safe, and most importantly, human-safe sunscreen so that people can interact responsibly with the ever-important sun. Our products are developed and tested in the thin air and altitude of Lake Tahoe (6,225 ft). Sun Milk products are 100% sourced and made in the USA. Sun Milk is a trademarked brand.

** Shake well before each use. "Shake to Milk"
** Apply 15 minutes prior to sun exposure
** Re-apply every 1-2 hours and after swimming or sweating
Sun Milk Ingredients
We've spent the better part of 2 years researching and testing various natural and organic ingredients with the goal of creating the perfect sun care for your skin, combining protection, usability, and simply how well it smoothes onto your skin and feels. We believe, and our users testimonials support, that we've found the perfect set of ingredients and ratios to achieve that goal.Ingredients: Organic cold pressed coconut oil (fractionated) *SPF 2-8, Organic unrefined cold pressed red raspberry seed oil *SPF 28-50, Organic cold pressed sweet almond oil *SPF 5, Non-nano & uncoated zinc oxide powder *SPF 55, Organic unrefined cold pressed carrot seed oil *SPF 38-40, The "ish" in our SPF is because some of the ingredients have a natural SPF range. Our ratio of those ingredients for our first product pencils out in the 28-32 range, hence 30'ish.
The Sun Milk Promise of 100% Natural and Clean
Our mission is to bring a 100% clean and healthy product line to the World. As mentioned, mainstream sunscreens are starting to be exposed for their harmful ingredients and effects on our health. The same is happening with plastics and aluminum. Long thought and believed to be "safe", the research shows that plastic and aluminum are leached into whatever liquid is contained, and we are thereby ingesting those dangerous compounds that further break down our health.
At Sun Milk we only use glass, metal and wood for storage, processing, and production. Once we receive the few ingredients that are not shipped in glass, we transport them to glass and wood containers. Most are in glass but we are still looking for vendors that also refuse to use plastic for the few ingredients that currently come in plastic. Our goal moving forward is to cold press and make our own ingredients so that we can take 100% control of delivering a completely clean, healthy, and safe product line.
Now, truth be told we're using plastic spray nozzles. Unfortunately there's not much to be done there unless someone can point us to a company that makes metal, glass or wood spray nozzles...so until then, we have to use the absolute minimal amount required of plastic.
Sun Milk: Naturally Not Waterproof
As you will see in the listing of mainstream sunscreen ingredients, you're dealing with a smorgasbord of nasty chemicals. How do they make that concoction "waterproof"? They add a few more chemical carcinogens to further help adhere the current chemicals to your skin. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds.
At Sun Milk, we promote responsible interaction with the sun, using an all natural, all organic product to maximize the sun's healing and health powers that people desperately need. {Note: one of the leading causes of cancer is Vitamin D deficiency} You don't want to avoid the sun, you need the sun. We are trying to help people interact responsibly so they can get back to the health and wellness they were meant to have. Sun Milk enables you, without carcinogenic chemicals, to interact with the sun, getting the ever important life block, Vitamin D.
Therefore, Sun Milk is naturally NOT waterproof. It is oil-based so you will recognize when it is no longer on your skin, at that point, simply re-apply. Small task to ask to stay clean and healthy.

People think their skin is like a coat of armor or some natural barrier protecting you...it's not. Your skin is in fact the largest organ in your body.
As we further develop this site we'll be starting a section for "Education & Research" where we will post all the research we've done over the past 5+ years. Articles, research, video testimonials, etc. so stay tuned as we know that will be an important part of this journey of education and bringing people to a clean, healthy, cancer-free lifestyle.
More and more it has been coming out that these mainstream sunscreens are in fact, one of the leading causes of skin cancer. The majority of the ingredients you see in mainstream sunscreens would be outlawed if they were put in food as they are unhealthy and dangerous - we will dive deeper into this and everything else when we launch our "E&R" section

Altitude/UV Testing
For those that live in high altitude mountains, you know that with the thin air and higher level UV Indexes, it always feels a good 10+ degrees warmer than stated temps. So this was a hot day.

The first (top) section is Sun Milk 30'ish, then Sun Bum 30, and Coppertone 50.
Results
We did a uniform test, one application of each, for one hour. Interesting results as I read many years ago that anything after "SPF30" was simply marketing.
Meaning a 40 or 50SPF per se wasn't any different than an SPF30. Hard to argue that with these results.

Chocolate Milk
It has been something we've planned and thought about for a while, however our clients have really pushed this to the forefront - a tinted Sun Milk.We are in the testing and development stage but hope to announce and reveal "Chocolate Milk" (likely in 3 shades) soon!!

Sport Milk
While other parts of the World are still enjoying warm sunny days, those of us in the mountains are preparing for winter and skiing. We are currently working on a few "Sport" products. One will be a line where Sun Milk will be in metal containers (versus glass so they're more rugged) for the active user; and the other will be a 'face milk' for skiers and snowboarders, or anyone venturing out in the strong thin air sun and need face/neck protection. As per our mantra, we will not move to aluminum containers for Sport Milk as aluminum is just as, if not more, dangerous and deadly to your health as plastic. Like plastic, aluminum containers leech the aluminum into the liquid, and then onto/into you...if you're new to this, aluminum and plastic are two of the worst substances you can have in or on your body. So as previously stated, Sun Milk is a 100% clean, natural, and SAFE product. No plastic nor aluminum will ever be used in Sun Milk products as the research is, and has shown that they are root causes of disease.
