Organic Cold-pressed Coconut Oil (fractionated) SPF 2-8

Coconut oil has been used for centuries for its nutritional and medicinal properties, but what exactly is fractionated coconut oil? Fractionated coconut oil is a processed form of coconut oil that has been separated into its component parts through a process called fractionation. This process separates the long-chain triglycerides from the medium-chain triglycerides, resulting in a clear, odorless, and liquid product often used in the beauty and skincare industry.

One of the main differences between regular coconut oil and fractionated coconut oil is that fractionated coconut oil stays liquid at room temperature, while regular coconut oil solidifies at cooler temperatures. This makes fractionated coconut oil easier to work with, especially in products where a liquid consistency is needed, such as lotions, creams, and serums. Another benefit of fractionated coconut oil is that it has a longer shelf life than regular coconut oil. Due to the removal of the long-chain triglycerides, the oil is less prone to oxidation, which can cause rancidity. Fractionated coconut oil also has a host of beauty benefits. Its lightweight texture makes it ideal for use in facial oils and serums. It absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy residue, making it a popular choice for people with oily or acne-prone skin. The oil is also rich in vitamins and antioxidants that help to soothe, hydrate, and protect the skin. Additionally, fractionated coconut oil is often used as a carrier oil for essential oils, as it has a neutral scent and does not interfere with the fragrance of the essential oils. This makes it a versatile oil that is popular in aromatherapy and massage therapy. As the oil absorbs quickly with no greasy residue left behind, it’s perfect for moisturizing the body, face, and hair. You can apply it soon after a shower or bath while your skin is still damp to seal in the moisture. Due to its natural antioxidant properties and fatty acid content, it doesn’t clog pores, is non-comedogenic, and is gentle enough to use on all skin types. It’s great for acne-prone and sensitive skin as it doesn’t cause breakouts or aggravate existing skin conditions. Many people use fractionated coconut oil to soothe eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. The oil also helps to prevent and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots, leaving your skin soft, supple, and youthful-looking.

Organic Unrefined Cold-Pressed Red Raspberry Seed Oil
SPF 28-50

Unleash the pure potency of nature with Organic Red Raspberry Seed Oil, a treasure trove of skin-loving nutrients. Packed with naturally occurring Vitamin E and Vitamin A (Beta Carotene), Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, and polyphenols, this unrefined oil creates a protective barrier against environmental stressors, leaving your skin revitalized and glowing. Ideal for dry, sensitive, or stressed skin, its gentle yet powerful formula provides deep hydration and soothes irritation, promoting a healthy, luminous complexion.

Why raspberry seed oil?

The naturally occurring oils in fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of fatty acids for our bodies. Most diets lack sufficient quantities of these fatty acids, and many people use oils derived from foods rich in fatty acids as supplements. Raspberry seed oil is a little-known alternative that offers surprising additional benefits.

1. Rudeced Signs of Aging

Oxidation is one of the main causes of aging, but raspberry seed oil can help minimize its effects and slow the appearance of wrinkles. Ellagic acid, the active compound in raspberry seed oil, plays a key role in fighting wrinkles. As we age, the collagen in our skin becomes damaged, leading to a loss of firmness and the gradual formation of wrinkles. Raspberry seed oil is packed with antioxidants that protect your skin from harmful free radicals, helping to preserve collagen and keep your skin tight and firm.

2. Clear Up Your Skin

Acne occurs when excess sebum and dead skin cells block hair follicles. Sebum, a mixture of natural oils and cholesterols produced by the body, is essential for maintaining healthy skin and hair. However, it also serves as a food source for acne-causing bacteria. Overproduction of sebum can lead to a buildup of bacteria and infections in hair follicles, resulting in blotchy skin, pimples, and spots that may cause scarring. Raspberry seed oil can be used as a natural remedy to address acne by opening pores and clearing out sebum.

The skin-healing properties of raspberry seed oil come from its high concentration of Vitamin A and essential fatty acids. These fatty acids improve skin elasticity and lubrication, helping to clear blocked pores, while Vitamin A regulates the amount of oil your skin produces.

You might wonder how applying oil can help a condition caused by excess oil. The answer lies in the difference between the oil produced by acne-prone skin and the oil you’re applying. The sebum that builds up and causes acne is high in oleic acid, which is difficult for the skin to eliminate. Raspberry seed oil, on the other hand, is rich in linoleic acid, which helps restore balance to the skin. Its fatty acid composition is 54% linoleic acid, 29% linolenic acid, and 11% oleic acid, making it an excellent choice for promoting healthy skin.

3. Reduces Inflamation

Inflammation is a natural process the body uses to aid healing, but excessive inflammation can be harmful. Chronic inflammation is associated with conditions like pain, swelling, and arthritis. Raspberry seed oil is highly effective at reducing inflammation, making it a common ingredient in cosmetic products used to treat eczema and rashes. In fact, a study on mice showed that regular intake of raspberry seed oil significantly reduced the severity of their inflammatory responses.

4. Sun-Damage Protection

A study was conducted where lab-grown human cells were exposed to high levels of UV light. Various compounds were applied to the cells to determine which provided the best protection, and ellagic acid emerged as the most effective. The ellagic acid in raspberry seed oil enables it to absorb both UV-B and UV-C rays, offering an SPF of up to 50.

This makes raspberry seed oil one of the best organic sunscreens nature has to offer. To achieve similar levels of SPF protection, you would need to use mineral or chemical sunscreens.

5. Plenty of CarotenoidsTo Aid In Healing

Carotenoids are known to play a vital role in maintaining healthy skin. As such, they work as antioxidants, promote cell repair, and protect skin cells from UV damage. Carotenoids are just one example of the healing compounds found in raspberry seed oil. It also contains plenty of other essential nutrients that promote healing. To get the benefits, you just have to apply a little bit on your skin and let your epidermal layer soak in the goodness.

6. Brilliant Source of Vitamin E

Raspberry seed oil contains a high concentration of alpha-tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol within its fatty acids. These compounds, commonly known as Vitamin E, are powerful antioxidants that excel at eliminating free radicals that cause skin damage.

7. Keeps Your Skin Moist

Raspberry seed oil acts as a natural moisturizer. Rather than artificially adding moisture where it’s not needed, as most moisturizers do, raspberry seed oil preserves the skin’s existing moisture by preventing it from escaping into the atmosphere. This effect is due to phytosterols, the compounds in raspberry seed oil that provide this unique benefit. Regular application of raspberry seed oil can also increase your skin’s natural moisture levels over time, making it an excellent remedy for those who suffer from chronic dry skin.

8. Ketogenic Weight Loss

The idea of consuming fats to help reduce body fat can be confusing, as many people don’t fully understand the benefits of healthy fats. Raspberry seed oil contains a ketone called rheosmin, which plays a role in metabolism, particularly in the breakdown of fat cells. Studies in mice have shown that adding raspberry ketones can accelerate this process. While these results cannot be directly assumed for humans, it is speculated that raspberry ketones may help the body shift from burning carbohydrates for energy to burning fat reserves. This effect is especially notable when following a low-carb diet, as the body has less capacity to store fat.

Many users have also testified to the protective benefits of red raspberry oil, with claims of never burning in the sun again. This remarkable quality has become a cornerstone of our formula.

Non-nano and Undercoated Zinc Oxide Powder * SPF 55

Benefits of using non-nano, uncoated zinc oxide include enhanced sun protection.

Non-nano zinc oxide provides unmatched broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. It reflects and scatters UV radiation, preventing it from penetrating the skin and offering reliable, long-lasting sun protection. Using a sunscreen with non-nano zinc oxide ensures your skin is effectively shielded from the sun's harmful effects, allowing you to enjoy the sun with confidence.

Gentle On The Skin

In addition to its excellent sun protection properties, non-nano zinc oxide is gentle and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin. Its larger particle size makes it less likely to penetrate the skin, reducing the risk of irritation or adverse reactions. This is especially beneficial for individuals with sensitive skin, as it minimizes the potential for irritation while still delivering effective sun protection.

Enviromental Considerations

Choosing non-nano zinc oxide benefits both your skin and the environment. Non-nano zinc oxide is biodegradable and avoids the environmental concerns linked to some chemical UV filters, which can accumulate in water bodies and harm marine life. By selecting sunscreens with non-nano zinc oxide, you prioritize your skin's health and the planet's well-being.

Non-nano zinc oxide is an exceptional ingredient, offering superior sun protection while being gentle on the skin and environmentally friendly. Its larger particle size forms a physical barrier, effectively reflecting and scattering UV rays away from the skin.

In its raw form, zinc oxide is a white, powdery mineral with a long history of use in sun protection. Beyond shielding skin from sun damage, it also acts as a gentle astringent with antiseptic properties, serving as a topical protectant for various types of skin damage. Zinc oxide supports the formation and repair of connective tissue, aiding in the healing of damaged, dry, or wounded skin.

Before exploring the specific benefits of zinc oxide for your skin, it’s important to understand the difference between nano and non-nano zinc oxide.

What is The Difference Between Nano and Non-nano Zinc Oxide?

Nano means that a particle is smaller than 100mm and, therefore, has to be measured in nanometers, which equals one billionth of a meter. Because of its tiny size, nano zinc oxide can be absorbed into the bloodstream and is traced in human urine. Not only has it been shown to have the potential to affect human health, but it has also been found to have the potential to threaten coral reefs by bleaching them, just as chemical UV filters would. This small size of Zinc Oxide particles is usually used in personal care products because it leaves less of a white cast on your skin than the non-nano version of it. Non Nano means it is larger than 100nm and therefore won’t penetrate your skin. Besides it being the safest option of UV filter to use for human health, it has also been shown to be the safest option for marine life and coral reefs, since Zinc Oxide in its Non-Nano form has been shown not to harm marine wildlife. Coated Zinc Oxide refers to Zinc Oxide coated with an inert substance, most commonly triethoxycaprylylsilane, to make it easier to mix with the other ingredients and (allegedly) prevent the development of free radicals.

At Sun Milk, we decided to only use uncoated pharmaceutical-grade Zinc Oxide in our products for the following reasons:

Triethoxycaprylylsilane and other coatings do not align with our ingredient standards because they are synthetic and not purely natural ingredients. We, therefore, use uncoated Zinc Oxide, which comes closest to the ingredient as it can be found in nature.

Instead of using coated Zinc Oxide as a shortcut to a more homogeneous formula, we have fine-tuned our production process to mix the uncoated Zinc Oxide with the other ingredients effectively.

The small amount of free radicals generated by Zinc Oxide can even be contained with the body's own antioxidants, and since we do not use nanoparticles the Zinc Oxide particles in our sunscreens sits on the outer dead layer of the skin where free radicals can not damage any living cells as confirmed by this study conducted by the Australian government.

Uncoated Zinc Oxide has been safely used in topical skin care products such as calamine lotion and diaper rash cream for centuries. We add ingredients such as Coconut Oil and Vitamin E to our formulas which also help to absorb any free radicals should they develop, and not be absorbed by the skin’s own antioxidants already.

Now that we know it’s safe, let’s look at which benefits uncoated Zinc Oxide offers for your skin and health!

Benefits of Zinc Oxide

1. Zinc Oxide Acts As A Natural Uv-Filter

Zinc Oxide offers natural broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays, making it the safest UV filter available right now. Scientists recommend it as a safe alternative to chemical UV filters. By filtering harmful UV rays, zinc oxide helps protect cells from damage, halt the aging process, and prevent skin dryness. It is effective after application since it forms a natural barrier between your skin and sunlight.

2. Zinc Oxide Supports Healing

Zinc Oxide diminishes the tenderness that sunburns can cause. It gives chapped skin a soft feeling and helps with skin repair by keeping the area surrounding the wound moist and clean. How cool is that? Zinc oxide helps prevent sunburn; if you get sunburned, it heals faster!

3. Zinc Oxide is a Skin Astringent

Zinc oxide prevents oil formation on the surface of your skin and works effectively to dry excess oils. It also helps to revive your skin’s glow by shrinking large pores and tightening skin to help conceal damages.

4. Zinc Oxide Can Help Treat Acne

Zinc Oxide naturally comates skin irritations and inflammation to keep problems with acne breakouts away. It helps regulate sebum production in the skin and lowers antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, commonly triggering acne. It helps lower inflammation that also occurs as a reaction to this bacteria-induced skin condition. It lowers clogged pores and the possibility of the recurrence of acne.

5. Zinc Oxide Can Help To Relive Inflamation

Because of its natural properties that provide inflammation relief, Zinc Oxide is often used in products for treating cold sores, skin ulcers, burns, skin irritation, scrapes, and diaper rash. As mentioned above, it helps facilitate the growth of new tissue and the skin’s healing process by preventing further inflammations.

6. Zinc Oxide Prevents Bacterial Infections

Zinc Oxide prevents bacterial infection by keeping your skin dry and reducing the chance of contaminants penetrating it. It also contributes to lowering incidences of infections while also reducing skin permeability and improving your skin’s tightness to keep bacteria away.

Who Is Zinc Oxide Good For?

The answer is everyone! Thanks to the inflammatory properties of Zinc Oxide, even people with sensitive skin, rosacea, and acne benefit from the use of it. People with skin discoloration, including melasma and hyperpigmentation, will also benefit from it. While chemical UV filters can contribute to skin discolorations, Zinc Oxide is safe to use and can help to reduce these skin conditions.

Is Zinc Oxide Safe For Marine Life?

Yes, zinc oxide, in its non-nano form, is considered safe for marine life. Unlike some chemical UV filters found in sunscreens, zinc oxide forms a physical barrier on the skin’s surface, reflecting and scattering UV radiation rather than being absorbed into the skin.

Furthermore, non-nano zinc oxide particles are too large to be absorbed by the skin, which in return means they are also too large to be absorbed by marine organisms. This reduced the likelihood of zinc oxide entering the marine food chain and causing harm to aquatic life.Additionally, zinc oxide is biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Unlike certain chemical UV filters, it does not contain harmful chemicals linked to coral bleaching and other adverse effects on marine life. As a result, zinc oxide is often preferred over mineral sunscreens intended for use in coastal areas and marine environments.

Zinc oxide is considered the safest UV filter available for marine life. This is due to its physical barrier mechanism of protection, lack of absorption into the skin and marine organisms, and its biodegradability. Its eco-friendly characteristics in its non-nano form make it a preferred choice for everyone wanting to protect themselves from the sun without harming the marine environment.
